FEMA and RED CROSS - CloudCasters Emergency Services Public Internet Station

"Cloudcasters from Washington State have donated the use of a mobile internet station with 6-8 internet ready computers (unit has free standing deployable commercial grade wireless touchscreen Kiosks within). Their service will allow people to register with FEMA, Red Cross, and other agencies quickly while limiting the burden on agency staff. Their service will allow approximately 750 people to register daily through their computers. They will provide the technical assistance to help registries use the online system so no extra burden will be placed on the agencies in place. These PCs will also allow the FEMA staff wireless and VOIP (voice over IP phone) to surf the web at will if desired. CloudCasters has also quickly established a Disaster Internet Portal URL www.cloudcasters.com/FEMAREG/Index.htm.

This site is so that the tragedy survivors needing access to any of the 4 agencies (ICRC - Lost Pet-Register - Register You’re a Survivor - Look for Loved Ones Database and FEMA) can from one simple web page location. Printers are also giving each survivor a registration completion confirmation.

Cloudcaster has received donations from local companies to pay for all expenses involved with transport of their equipment and cost of their employees to man the stations. Although they are a private company they are not coming to make a profit or exploit Hurricane Katrina victims. They saw a special on MSNBC that showed people waiting for hours and hours in line to register and realized their donation would be valuable to these people.

They want to connect with a Disaster Recovery Center or Red Cross shelter where people are registering or needing internet access. If neither of these options are possible they are also willing to set-up at a long term shelter for a few weeks to provide internet for these displaced citizens.

The trailer and internal Kiosks is valued in excess of $80,000.  As mentioned they will cover all the costs of the operation of the trailer including internet fees, usage of paper, gas for the generator etc. They just need a contact and location for a place to go and set-up their free service. Any help you can provide them will greatly help people needing their service. Thank you. Attached below is a picture of what their internet station will look like."
